Mу fiance аnd I аrе рlаnnіng οn going tο Orlando fοr ουr honeymoon аt thе еnd οf Mау. Wе want tο visit Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios аnd Discovery Cove. Thе qυеѕtіοn іѕ, wουld a rental car bе a gοοd іdеа fοr υѕ? Mοѕt οf thе hotels thаt wе′ve found οnlу offer shuttles tο one οr two οf thе parks wе want tο gο tο. Dοеѕ anyone hаνе experience wіth going tο Orlando аnd visiting thеѕе parks without rental cars аnd/οr wіth rental cars?
I honeymooned in Orlando but we stayed at a Disney Resort which has a very convenient bus system that is free of charge to all the Disney parks and resorts. If you are staying off theme park property, Universal included and are planning on visiting other attractions I would just rent a car that way you could come and go as you please, however you have to consider parking fees.
If you are planning on going to more than one property then you definitely want to get a car. Those shuttles are very limited, and go to several different hotels. So you end up taking a really long time to get to the parks. Rental cars aren’t that expensive, plus you can stay at some really great resorts that offer discounts because they’re trying to steal business away from Disney. Find a centrally located hotel and you’re ready to go.
Congratulations on your wedding! Don’t forget to stop by guest services and get a honeymoon pin. Also go to Cinderella’s royal table for dinner
It’s a must on your honeymoon.
spend your honeymoon in Disneyworld!! Stay at a nice resort. You dont need a car there!! You will have the time of your life. Many people actually get married there to! good luck
If you are going to all the places you said above I suggest to rent a car. Yes Disney has its own transport but only to the Disney parks Sea World Dicovery Cove Universal are way out and a pain/waste of money if you were to ride a cab. Plus your on a honeymoon I am sure there are places in between your hotel and going to all these places your wife would want to stop at.
Well it is the happiest place on earth. How fun!!!!! You two are going to have a blast!!!!! There is the Swan hotel, you might want to look into, I stayed there, and it’s very pretty. Great pool too. here ya go -

I also went on my honeymoon in Orlando, and we also stayed at a Disney resort. In all honesty I think that is your best bet. Disney has a resort to fit any budget, they have specials for honeymooners, and they can offer something the other hotels off site can’t. PERKS. Disney takes great care of their resort guests. For example they offer free unlimited use of their transportation system. You wouldn’t have to worry about a car, and the busses run to and from each Disney attraction to the resorts every 10 to 15 minutes. The off site places have shuttles, but they are limited and in some cases cost extra. The Disney resorts also offer the Magical Express, free shuttle to and from the Orlando Int’l Airport to your resort, complete with luggage service. Then there is the Extra Magic hours, where one park is open early and one late for rersort guests only. When visiting Disney, the best way to go is stay at their resort, especially for your honeymoon.
As for visiting the other attractions in Orlando, when I was down there in April last year we stayed at a Disney resort, but we wanted to visit Sea World. Sea World is a 1/2 to 3/4 day visit at best. We went to the concierge and had them call a cab. We got door to door service and we were able to visit Sea World with no problem. You are able to have the same service to Universal and Discovery Cove. It is much cheaper and will save you on parking and aggrivation.
I hope this helps. If you are looking for more advice or info I would check out the disboards. The disboards is a message board website all about visiting Disneyworld, complete with a section about visiting the other non-Disney attractions. You can get resort reviews, restaurant reviews, tips and tricks, advice, answers, and much more.
Have a great trip and congratulations!!
With the parks you have listed I would suggest finding a hotel on International Dr. that provides a free shuttle to Disney. Sea World and Discovery Cove can be easily reached via the I-Ride Trolley. For Universal Studios you can take the same I-Ride Trolley north bound to International Dr. and Kirkman Rd. then its a few block walk over I-4 to Universal or a short and inexpensive cab ride. You can easily get a taxi at Festival Bay Mall for that ride if you don’t want to walk. That way no need for a rental car or any worrys should you decide to have a couple of drinks while at the parks.

Yes. Rent a car. Most resorts that are not on Disney property offer ‘shuttles’, but they only leave once an hour, and they only run for certain hours, and they can take forever. If you want to go from park to park to park, rent a car. Otherwise, you will spend half your honeymoon waiting for shuttles.
Also, depending on how long you’re going to be here, that’s a lot to see. Even just for Disney, I’d set aside six days. If you were to stay on Disney property, and just do Disney parks, you wouldn’t have to rent a car because Disney’s buses are much better; they run practically around the clock and come every 10-20 minutes. Plus, it’s so magical spending your honeymoon at Disney. I did, and I don’t regret spending all 8 days on Disney property at all.
