Honeymoon on a budget?
Wе′re getting married soon аnd wе′d lіkе tο gο οn a honeymoon, bυt wе′re limited tο $1,000. Nеіthеr οf υѕ hаνе аnу іdеаѕ οn whеrе wе′d want tο gο/whаt wе′d want tο dο, wе јυѕt want tο gеt away fοr a lіttlе bit аnd еnјοу being newlyweds. Wе′re looking fοr something fun, bυt nοt sporty οr country-outtings. Wе live іn Iowa, bυt wουld lονе tο gο out οf state, аnу іdеаѕ?? Anything іѕ appreciated!
Another note: Hіѕ family lives іn California іn thе Bay Area, ѕο thаt іѕ one option, bυt I’m thinking 1,000 іѕ nοt realistic fοr thаt bіg οf a trip уеt (hе wаѕ telling mе аbουt Grеаt America, аnd wе′d need a hotel room аѕ well, plus travel). Wе wеrе kind οf thinking οf somewhere іn thе surrounding states tο Iowa ѕο thаt іt іѕ drivable (maybe something іn Chicago?? Missouri? Minnesota?), bυt іf thеrе аrе аnу іdеаѕ fοr around thе Bay Area thаt’d bе grеаt tοο
.
I think Chicago would be fun. There are some really cool places to visit there, especially the aquarium. Plus, lots of bands play in Chicago, so maybe the two of you could get concert tickets to see a band play while you were there.
No matter what time of year you go there, you might want to bring a sweatshirt. Even when it is warm there, if you are in the shade it can get chilly. I think it is the wind coming off the lake or something.
Well I live in Australia so I can’t comment on where would be good places to go for $1000. But there is this morning show in Australia called ‘Sunrise’, I’ll put their website below. But they recently had a stint on their show called budget honeymoon tips, so it might give you some ideas about what you could do. Some of it relates to places in Australila, but most of it is just simple ideas. The link should be directly on the homepage, but if not have a look through the videos link.
Congratulations on your wedding! It sounds cheesy, but we went to Vegas for our honeymoon and had a blast for under $1000. We were in the same boat, looking for something cheap, but fun for a getaway and we went to a travel agent and they suggested Vegas. Neither of us really gambles or drinks or any of the stuff that we thought of when we thought of Vegas, but we had the best time and we both keep saying that we would love to go back.
The hotels are so neat with all of their different themes and you can spend a whole day or more just wandering through them. They have a ton of different kinds of restaurants from really low budget to really fancy. There are tons of shows that you can see and if you are willing to take a chance you can go for half price if you go to the ticket booth on the day of the show and take whatever isn’t sold out. Plus, the surrounding desert is really beautiful and if you can get a package with a car you can go to some of the nat’l parks and see the sights.
We did gamble, but only a tiny bit just to try it out while we were there. We probably spent less than $100 between the two of us on gambling. Everything else we spent on other activities. Our wedding was 3 years ago so I can’t be sure of the prices now, but we were able to get 6 days, 5 nights, airfare and our fun money while we were there all for $1000. So it is something to consider.
I’m from the Bay Area and Great America is not the place I would recommend. Well, not unless you don’t mind standing in line forever and spending the day with annoying teenagers who think they’re gangsta. If you decide to head out to CA and specifically the Bay Area, spend some time seeing the sights in San Francisco or Monterey.
look on craigslist for your area. for rentals. under real estate i think…
you might be able to find a furnished cabin that you can stay in. or a cozy beach front house or lake side house.
i found a lot of places online for the east coast when looking for our honeymoon.
try this site…

with the price of gas… i wouldn’t want to travel by car too much unless you can rent a hybrid or realllly fuel friendly car.
I’m not sure about what’s around your state, but the best advice I could give is go to a travel agent and they will help you. They know all about those things and can probably find you a good deal and tell you fun things to do in the area you choose.
