In mexico, all citizens must go to a court to get a marriage certificate to make the wedding legal. Otherwise, it’s just a ceremony in the church. Does United States Customs and Immigration consider just the church wedding a legal marriage?

We are thinking of traveling to Acapulco, Mexico for our honeymoon in October, 2010, but everyone I tell that we are going there are like ”oh, don’t go there, it’s too dangerous!”…
has anyone been recently that can give me a bit of insight on the place? We are form Australia and don’t really have any idea what is going on over there…

I am thinking either something fun and upbeat. Maybe something that sounds Mexican? Not sure any ideas would be great. We eloped then went to Mexico and we are having a party and I would like to play this to show everyone!

I’m going on my honeymoon next week (In Nueva Vallarta, Mexico), and I’m bringing a lot of spending money (cash). What’s the best way to bring it into Mexico? With the chances of losing bags, getting robbed, etc., what’s the best way to do this without losing a lot of money?
If I bring a debit card, won’t I basically lose all my money if it is stolen? I can cancel the card, but now my honeymoon would be ruined.
